Volunteering at The Limes
“The most inspiring aspect for me is the emphasis on integrating activities with the principles of participation, empowerment and self advocacy.”
Our volunteers are highly valued and sit at the heart of everything we do at The Limes.
Our team is as diverse as our local community and if you have the skills and the time, please come and help us.
You can bring a whole bunch of volunteers and help with a one off job, or dedicate some time regularly to help keep us going - it's up to you.
Help keep our building, offices and grounds in shape.
Our building and outside spaces always need a touch of maintenance - it could be filling holes, adjusting play equipment or even putting up shelves.
Do some research to help us raise funds
We are always seeking funds to run our projects, and our busy Director needs help to research organisations that can give us money. This sort of job needs a regular weekly or monthly commitment.
Help us improve by discovering the best resources for our community.
Things like buying the most suitable equipment takes time and effort to research. We need help with that and other things like finding the best training courses or discovering what is going on in the local community.
Help us grow our garden
We run an Edible Forest Garden as part of our projects. We would love green-fingered volunteers to help keep our garden in shape. This sort of volunteering would suit someone who could commit a couple of hours a week, or a bit longer for a one-off task.
Help us to deliver our services
We need administrative assistants to help with our day-to-day work. Duties would include meeting and greeting public, dealing with enquiries, promoting our services and preparing our facilities for use.
We also need a minute-taker. Someone adept at listening, taking notes and recording what goes on in our meetings.
Help our members become more independent
Some of our members need picking up and dropping off at agreed times. This kind of support allows members to fully participate in our activities and build up independence.
Shop til you drop
We deal with a huge number of people every week and need help with ordering, shopping and dealing with deliveries.
Publicity and marketing
This is really important to us and giving time to help us reach those people who most need our services is really valuable.
To support & develop music in our groups; You could be a leader -who is a music therapist or someone keen on using music to have fun with children & young people.
to provide artistic support to our play sessions/ projects through the development of plays, shows and art based activities.
We really hope that you can commit to volunteering with us! Here is our commitment to you. We promise:
• a supportive working environment.
• clear descriptions of the work that is expected
• training sessions appropriate to your role if required
• a one-month trial period, to ensure that you are happy with us and we are happy with you.
